Early Aspirations
I wanted to be a writer from the time I was eight when my teacher told me that she liked one of my limericks.
Career Path
I was a journalist and editor of Ad Age for most of my career, which led to me to write a book on the decline of interruptive advertising, and then try my hand at creating branded content. I now lead a 500-person creative content, experience design, production practice globally.
NewFronts Experience
I started out attending NewFronts as a journalist, and this is my fifth year running programming for Digitas. NewFronts were started as a way to say to clients, ‘there are some cool things going on in digital that you are not paying enough attention to and we would like you to stop and take a look at this stuff’ whereas now they are much more.
Why I’ll Be at the NewFronts
To show clients that there are a lot of just amazing, exciting things that media companies are doing with technology, with storytelling, and with connections to audiences, and that they should be a part of it.
LA to NYC
I just moved back to New York after two and a half years in Los Angeles. I am blessed that for at least 15 years of my career I have been able to split my time between the two coasts.
Going the Distance
The ad side of the world and the programming, editorial, and storytelling side of the world all used to be in the same city, until they went their separate ways. I am here to help bridge that distance and translate between the two sides as well.
