One of the Movie Industry’s Great Innovators Shares his Secrets for Staying One Step Ahead
New York, NY (July 24, 2006) The Interactive Advertising Bureau (IAB) today announced that media powerhouse Harvey Weinstein will be interviewed by Charlie Rose at this year’s MIXX 2.6 Conference and Expo. MIXX is the official Interactive event of Advertising Week 2006.
Weinstein, Co-Chairman, of The Weinstein Company is one of the most innovative entertainment executives in the world. He launched The Weinstein Company, a multi-media company with his brother Bob in 2005. The Weinsteins founded Miramax Films in 1979 on the principal that the company could take European films and films with difficult subject matter and market them in an innovative way.
“I am honored to speak at the MIXX conference with Charlie Rose,” said Harvey Weinstein. “It is our view that the new technologies and innovations that this conference presents are the future of the entertainment and media industry.”
Willing to take risks, the Weinsteins have consistently been the film industry’s early adopters in their use of specialized marketing and distribution strategies, individually tailoring each film’s release to suit its particular strengths. Most recently, The Weinstein Company, embraced rich media/online video with a ground breaking presence on YouTube for the respective launches of Lucky Number Slevin, and the hotly anticipated Clerks II. For Clerks II The Weinstein Company created a unique partnership with MySpace, the first 10,000 people to add a certain page to their friends list will be permanently added to the ending credits of the film. Recently, The Weinstein Company made a significant investment in a SmallWorld, the world’s most exclusive online social network that brings together highly influential people from all over the globe.
Their inventive technique is responsible for many success stories. At this year’s MIXX Conference, Weinstein will share how they use interactive and new technologies to reinvent movie distribution and marketing.
Emmy award-winning journalist Charlie Rose has been praised as “one of America’s premier interviewers.” He is the host of Charlie Rose, the nightly PBS program that engages America’s best thinkers, writers, politicians, athletes, entertainers, business leaders, scientists and other newsmakers.
“Harvey Weinstein is a true innovator within the business of making movies and Charlie Rose is an icon in journalism,” said Greg Stuart, CEO of the IAB, “We are truly honored and thrilled to have this powerful combination as a part of MIXX”.
“We could not have asked for a more extraordinary start to Advertising Week than a Charlie Rose interview of Harvey Weinstein,” continues Matt Scheckner, Executive Director of Advertising Week, “He truly represents marketing innovation at the highest level and I know MIXX Conference attendees will walk away amazed at what they will learn.”
The MIXX 2.6 Conference and Expo will take place on September 25-26 in New York City. It is the showcase interactive event for marketing and agency professionals and the publishers and technology firms. Through a combination of the industry’s most prominent and influential speakers, innovative topics, and highly productive networking opportunities, MIXX is the most important interactive advertising conference in the country.
